Abstract
Built in Self Test a New Test Generation Pattern
Bindu K R
Abstract:
VLSI Chips have some complexity. The increasing level of integration results in small features size, and high proximity of functional units. This leads the system highly susceptible to external faults which turns the need for testing. This paper proposes a Test Pattern Generator for Built-In Self-Test. Our method generates multiple single input change vectors in a pattern, i.e., each vector applied to a scan chain is a SIC vector. A Reconfigurable Johnson Counter and a Scalable SIC counter are developed to generate a class of minimum transition sequences. The proposed TPG is flexible to both the test-per-clock and the test-per-scan schemes. A theory is also developed to represent and analyse the sequences and to extract a class of MSIC sequences. . Analysis results show that the produced MSIC sequences have the favourable features of uniform distribution and low input transition density. It also achieves the system fault coverage without increasing the test length.

Atmospheric conditions induced by suspended particles, such as fog and haze, severely alter the scene appearance. In this paper, we propose a novel defogging method basedon the local extrema, aiming at improving the image visibilityunder foggy or hazy weather condition. The proposed methodutilizes atmospheric scattering model to realize the fog removal. It applies the local extrema method to figure out three pyramidlevels to estimate atmospheric veil, and manipulates the toneand contrast of details at different scales through multi-scaletone manipulation algorithm. The results on the experimentsof comparison with traditional methods demonstrate that theproposed method can achieve more accurate restoration for thecolor and details, resulting in a great improvement in imagevisibility.

A Novel Approach of improving the Performance Enhancement of in As /Si Tunnel FET
Reshma Raj, Arun A V
Abstract:
The designed In As/ si hetrojunction double gate tunnel FET (H-DGTFET) is a type of tunnel FET which only gives a moderate performance enhancement in MOSFET technology. Through this project we can improve the performance enhancement of In As/Si. For this we analyse the threshold voltage, gate dielectric, channel length. Here the threshold voltage of the device is extracted by using a constant current method. DC characteristics and analog RF performance are investigated for different doping profiles. A highly doped layer is placed in the channel near the source- channel junction, and this decrease the width the depletion region ,which improves the ON-current (Ion) and the RF performance further more we use Tunnel FETs with a high-k gate dielectric which have a smaller threshold voltage shift than those using Sio2,while the threshold slope for fixed values of Vg remains nearly unchanged .here three types of tunnel fets are simulated. homogeneous structure ,heterogeneous structure and pnpn model of tunnelfet are the main three structures. Comparing these structure different doping will give much more current and high performance characteristics. Through this a new novel model of tunnel fet structure has been simulated.

Abstract:
Reduction of loss is the critical function in a Distribution Management System (DMS). Commonly used reactive power (var) resource in Distribution Management System is switchable shunt capacitor banks. Today distributed energy resources (DER) are becoming another important var resource. This paper proposes an advanced loss reduction approach to achieve the optimal control coordination among capacitors and DERs which in turn reduce the losses and thereby increasing efficiency of DMS much greater than traditional practices. The proposed approach is developed on the basis of the detailed multi-phase distribution network modelling .The feasibility of the proposed method is demonstrated using MATLAB simulation. Finally, some experimental results are also presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed approach.

The paper presents the real time implementation of PIWI, a personal virtual assistant using Artificial Intelligence .The proposed system is based on the free python development tools. The prepared software was tested with Linux operating system running on a small cost SBC called Raspberry Pi. Recently clearing doubts has become a major problem mostly among students .This can be solved by PIWI.PIWI: A SMART TEACHER is a personal virtual assistant that provides answer for the asked query in speech as well as text. PIWI was adapted and implemented for real time applications using Wolfram alpha and Google API. PIWI can answer all general, arithmetic and logical questions. Speech to Text, Text to speech and Shell scripting are the three main technologies used here. Queries are asked to the machine which will convert it into text and will search in internet and find the results regarding the asked queries. Using text to speech converter, the machine can be made to provide answers regarding the queries back in speech. It can be also be displayed. This is the advantage of this project which makes an end to googling, referring, books and browsing. In addition, PIWI can also provide Email services.Sound card, Google API, Raspberry Pi, Python, Wolfram Alpha Search Engine and Shell Scripting are used to work out this project.

Nowadays, the scale of library is expanding and the quantity of books is increasingly large. Besides, with the growing popularity of open shelf reading the phenomenon of misplaced books is becoming more&more common. Thus, readers finding books and library administrators checking books are also becoming increasingly difficult. The misplaced books can be identified by using a pair of motor and a RFID reader attached on the shelf. The position of the corresponding book will be displayed on the screen. The data transfer takes place with the help of GPRS technology. However, what has been used most widely now is the library management system based on barcode, whose operation process is beyond complicated. Whats more, the barcode has a short life and breaks easily, which greatly influences the efficiency of the library management.

Harmonic Mitigation using D-STATCOM for Electric ARC Furnace
M. Kombu Selvi, P. MahaLakshmi, M. Muniya Rajeshwari
Abstract:
Arc furnaces are used in industries for induction heating and welding. Due to the rapid growth of non - linear loads, such as power electronic control equipments and Electric arc furnace (EAF) power quality problems such as harmonics and voltage flicker are introduced in the power system. It occurs because of the time-varying and non-linear behaviour of the electric arc furnace operation. Hence an Electric arc furnace model is needed to analyze the power quality. In this paper, a time domain model called hyperbolic model for electric arc furnace is analyzed using MATLAB. The model is used to study its behaviour on the power system using MATLAB. To improve the power quality D-STATCOM is proposed, in which the control strategies used are Direct, Indirect control and Hysteresis controller. Direct control technique uses P-Q theory in which transformation is based on orthogonal reference frame. Indirect control technique uses d-q theory in which transformation is based on synchronous reference frame. Hysteresis controller uses Hysteresis Bandwidth to produce the switching signals.

Abstract:
Nowadays with the rapid development of modern communication networks, information has been transmitted with speeds never seen before. At the same period, illegally manipulated copies of digital media can be easily transmitted and distributed. As a result copyright protection has become an abundant issue in the world wide. Digital watermarking is a promising technique to solve this problem. While digital watermarking can be implement to audio, image and video. This paper focus on reversible image watermarking. The filtering used here is the Gaussian filtering, after Gaussian filtering it uses the low pass Gaussian filtering component to construct histogram using a key and select pixel group. Then the watermark is embedded and high frequency component is combined to obtain the watermarked image. In the compression time the host image is need to compressed using wavelet compression method called SPIHT. The data is encoded by using the RS- encoder followed by arithmetic encoding. And different transmissions are occur. Then in receiver side it obtain a filtered low frequency component image and the histogram is reconstructed using the key. Watermarked message is extracted from the image. In the decompression, the received image is decompressed as followed by arithmetic decoding, RS decoding, and wavelet decompression. Hence we obtain the host image.

Economic growth of the world makes the life smarter and better. A smart step towards economy is introduction of automatic teller machine (ATM) for faster and easier money transfer. ATM systems today use no more than an access card and PIN for identity verification .A group of people do malpractices over this ATM system. In fact there were many such incidents reported. This paper proposes a framework which will provide high security in ATMs. The framework includes Face recognition system for face identification in case of unauthorized entry. It also includes a vibration sensor for detecting vibrations if theft occurs by smashing the ATM machine. The system also contains a fingerprint module for accessing money without ATM cards. Our proposed system will provide advanced theft security system. Whenever ATM theft attempt occurs, vibration produced from the machine will be sensed by attached sensor module to it, and a high alert message will be sent to the nearest police station. At the same time the doors of the ATM counters closes and an unconscious gas will be sprayed inside the counter. Meanwhile if someone else is using the card ie, if the user is unauthorized then after face recognition on OTP (one time password) will be send to the authorized person. And only if the real user resends the OTP the unauthorized person will be able to access the ATM.If there arises an emergency need for money and the user doesnt have his/her ATM card, he/she can access the ATM machine by fingerprint technology. The respective user image and fingerprint will be compared and if it matches then the user can withdraw money, if the user knows the pin number.

Abstract:
Wireless Capsule Endoscopy (WCE) is an omnipotent noninvasive and painless diagnostic method for capturing digital images of entire Gastrointestinal (GI) tract. In this paper, we propose a method to detect colonic polyps and tumors from WCE images. Extractions of textural features are not only from single key point by utilizing single scale-invariant feature but also from neighborhood key points. Haralick texture features are extracted from each of patch size of 16*16 around the key points. For the best classification performance, the SIFT feature strategy is integrated with 22 Haralick textural features. In our prospective system, feature based classification is performed using Neural Network (NN) classifier for detecting colonic polyps and tumors accurately from the WCE images with an accuracy of about 97.5%.

SLAM stands for the acronym Simultaneous Localization And Mapping. It is a solution to the mapping problem for a mobile robot moving in an unknown indoor environment. Here we are trying to solve this problem in a relatively easy and cost e?ective way by using an ultrasonic sensor. While a robot enters into an unknown environment the ?rst problem it face is that it doesnt know anything about the particular environment ie, in which direction it should proceed and is there any obstacle. So at ?rst the robot senses its environment in an angle of 180 degree using its ultrasonic sensor which is mounted on a servo motor, which uses a time of ?ight principle. After sensing the environment for obstacles, for the rotation motion if necessary, we use a wheel sensor. All the updation of landmarks and rotation conditions are controlled by the program in the microcontroller. For mapping we use simple X-Y coordinates which is done in MATLAB which will be obtained as the output on PC with the help of BLUETOOTH as an interface with microcontroller.

Kerala has around 18 crore coconut trees which have to be harvested in every 45 days. So, there is demand of 40,000 climbers to ensure that the products are harvested. But the number of climbers available in the state is less than 10,000. This paper is to find a design of a device that can harvest coconut- a mechanism for tree climbing and plucking. We have taken into account the safety, reliability, the ease of use. Additional functions like cleaning the tree tops and spraying pesticides can be incorporated in the future. This system is so designed that it can be controlled by a common man as it does not involve complex procedure. Though there are a number of tree climbing machines available, an efficient coconut harvesting machine which can be feasibly made and employed in the agricultural sector is lacking. This is what motivated us to take up this as our project. Our aim is to design a robot that can make coconut harvesting quick, safe, and efficient. The coconut harvesting robot can be considered to be made of two parts: a coconut climbing mechanism and a coconut harvesting mechanism using robotic arm.

Abstract:
In the so perfect world of stillness, the objects around us are like a perfect model. A baby sleeping in her cradle may look very still, a houses roof which looks so straight but in reality they have slight deviations from their perfect stillness and straightness. There are observations where we can see subtle deviations produced due to the environment in and around us, while it is invisible to our naked eye making it unable to reveal this information in real time. In the proposed procedure, the Eulerian approach is used to reveal subtle motion with respect to time of an object which cannot be noticed through our naked eye, like a pulse due to the pumping of heart. Here we follow an algorithm where every pixel is monitored for variations and then it exaggerates those differences. The differences include color as well as the motion with respect to the phase position.

Abstract:
In our communication system, security is an important factor. Secured communication assists to protect the confidentiality of data. Secured communication can be obtained by encrypting the data. Cryptography is one method of encrypting our message or information. Fundamentally, the problem lies on the inherent contradiction between testability and security for digital circuits. Hence, theres a need for an efficient solution such that both testability and security are satisfied. Several secure scan techniques exist. Of which the modified scan design of Shatterproof secure scan makes it more difficult to discover the internal scan architecture. Thus a modified scan design which ensures higher level of security is explained in this paper.

Carry Select Adder with Multi- Threshold CMOS Logic
Akhila Mohandas, Keerthy Subramanian, Sajith K.J
Abstract:
The focus of VLSI technology is to increase the speed by reducing the propagation delay from input to output. Carry propagation is also one of the reason for sequential generation of the sum for each bit after the arrival of the previous carry. But some of the adders like ripple carry adder which have less area, more delay and the carry select adder of less delay and more area the carry select adder circuitry is which has replaced many circuitry in different processing system to get faster application. There are two ripple carry adders in carry select logic adder to generate the sum for carry input equal to zero and carry input equal to one. Multiplexers are used to select the sum based on the previous carry being propagated to previous stages. In linear carry select adder, mismatch of speed between input and propagated signals creates delay problem which can be reduced by using the square root carry select adder. In square root carry select adder the ripple carry adder is divided into different block to the different bits to reduce the arrival time of previous carry bit. Ripple carry adder delay when large number of bits are considered for design. So replacing ripple carry adder for carry input equal to one with the binary to excess one converter, minimizes area and power but with slight increase in delay. D latch based square root ripple carry adder is used. To improve the performance of this system MTCMOS D latch is used.

Robotic arms are widely used for industrial robotics and automation. The robotic arm exactly mimic the motions of the human arm. Human-robot controlled interfaces provides services to people with special needs such as elderly, people with impairments or people with disabilities. This project aims at developing a movable robotic arm that is controlled by the EMG signals taken from the muscles of the upper limb. Using these EMG signals, the interface between user and the robotic arm can be controlled. The system consists of arm control part and an accelerometer controlled car that bears the arm. The operator can control the arm motions using the arm control part. The microcontroller is used to generate signals to control the mechanical arm based on the EMG input signals. The accelerometer controlled car is used for the movement of the arm so that the arm can pick up and manipulate objects at a distance. The arm motions of the operator can be estimated with a high degree of accuracy using the EMG signals and the manipulator can be controlled smoothly. Parametric sensors like temperature and gaseous sensors are additionally added to the circuit. An LCD display is also added so as to display the recorded values from the temperature and gaseous sensors. The arm can be used for multiple tasks such as bomb diffusion, aid for needy people, surgical purposes etc.

Image enhancement is a process of improving the quality of the image by improving its features. Contrast enhancement is one of the challenging and interesting areas of image processing. In visual perception of the real world, contrast is determined by the difference in the colour and brightness of the object and other objects within the same field of view. The commonly used techniques for contrast enhancement fall into two categories:(1) indirect methods and (2) direct methods. Indirect approaches mainly modify histogram by assigning new values to the original intensity levels. Direct contrast enhancement method establishes a criterion of contrast measurement and enhancesthe image by improving the contrast measure. In this paper, we propose a fuzzy contrast enhancement method employing both direct and indirect methods.

Design and Implementation of Smart Irrigation System with Uninterrupted Power Supply
Dr. V. Balamurugan, Sujith P. S., Meera Govind G.
Abstract:
Irrigation is need of farmer to save water resource and need to use in minimum quantity because it is not a conversational resource. Agricultural sector uses maximum water in world. Due to its immense use water is vanishing day by day. Irrigation is one solution to this problem as it saves large amount of water. In traditional irrigation method water is sometimes over supplied or less supplied to the crop. So it is hard to take a decision to save water and get maximum profit from the field. This traditional method requires manual intervention. It creates a need of more labor work and maintenance. Thus maintaining a good irrigation system is a necessity in todays water scarcity environment. Hence a new system which makes the irrigation fully automated is being proposed. In our proposed automated system the temperature of irrigation field is being measured by a temperature sensor and based on the sensed value the crops is being watered. This whole system works all the time without any interruption in the working of our proposed system using uninterruptable power supply.

Abstract:
Power shortage is a major issue in India. As the electric power generation does not satisfy the increasing demand, power shortage occurs, which results in power outage. Presently, the power shortage is managed by supplying power in one area by cutting off power in another area. This will cause a lot of inconvenience for the consumers who are located in the power shutdown area. During summer, the problem would be still worse. We are proposing a solution for this problem using GSM technology. In this project we are reducing the power supply to each consumer thus increasing the number of consumers who are supplied with electricity. For that particular amount of time the consumer can use only the allotted amount of power. The power supply to each consumer can be supervised from the nearby distribution substation. In case, if a consumer is consuming more electricity than that is allotted to him/her, that consumers load will be cut off from the supply. The consumer has to reduce the load in order to get electricity again. Also, Electricity provider has given a certain power limit for free consumers. But in some places the consumption of free electricity is more than that power limit. In such places this device can be used to continuously monitor the power supply and switch the load off once the load power goes above the allotted value. Also, on implementing this, people will try to replace their old energy hungry devices with new energy efficient devices which will automatically lead to energy sufficiency.
